What We Do
BCA offers a the following services to vulnerable adults.
Crisis Advocacy:
This service is for anyone who is facing a crisis in their life which needs an immediate response. Our crisis advocates are all experienced advocates and we will respond to any referral by return.
High Support Advocacy:
This service is provided by specialist advocates for individuals who have complex needs and/or significant barriers to communication.
Non Instructed Advocacy:
Advocacy for individuals who lack capacity or who are unable to communicate their wishes in any way. We do not provide Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) service. Our service is for issues and individuals outside the IMCA remit. If you have any doubts about the correct referral contact us and we will either accept the referral or signpost you to the IMCA service.
Issue Based Advocacy:
Advocacy for people who do not want long term support but who are facing a problem or issue which they need help to resolve. This service is provided by a mix of paid and volunteer advocates.
Long term (Citizen) Advocacy:
Advocacy for individuals who are socially isolated and who need long term support to make their voice heard and to become part of their community. This service is provided by volunteer advocates
Self Advocacy:
This is provided through our Powys People First project.
There are local groups throughout Powys and a programme of ongoing events and meetings.
